The Minor Pentatonic Scale is widely used in many genres such as Blues, Rock, Hard Rock and Metal. This scale is only made up of 5 notes, and would be similar to the natural minor scale, but in this scale the 2nd and 6th notes are dispensed with, compared to the natural minor scale.
The Minor Pentatonic Scale is one of the most used in guitar solos, even more than the major pentatonic scale, because it has a note tonic that is not as decisive compared to the major scale.
As you can see in the example below, it is one of the very easy scales to use as it has fewer notes, and it sounds really good.
Example:
Arrangement of the Notes of the G Minor Pentatonic Scale, Distributed throughout the entire Fingerboard of the Guitar. The green circles mark the Note Tonic, the blue ones the Fifth Degree, and the yellow ones the Third Degree. You can see how the notes colored in green, blue and yellow form G minor chords.
